Philippine golf star Miguel Tabuena made full use of home-course advantage to end his two-year Asian Tour title drought, clinching the International Series Philippines crown on Sunday, October 26, at the Sta. Elena Golf Club in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
Starting the final round tied for the lead with Thailand’s Sarit Suwannarut and China’s Sampson Zheng, Tabuena fired a scintillating 7-under 65 to finish three strokes clear of Japan’s Kazuki Higa and Yosuke Asaji, securing his fourth career Asian Tour title.
The 31-year-old was visibly emotional after sinking the final putt, dropping to his knees before celebrating with his family — mother Lorna, wife Sandra, daughter Paloma, and father Luigi.

“My family and friends were there. My mom’s turning 60 this December and it meant everything to have her see me win,” Tabuena said. “I just fell to my knees. It was hard to hold it together after such a long, emotional week. I had so many expectations — from others and from myself. This means everything.”
The victory marked Tabuena’s first Asian Tour triumph since winning the DGC Open in New Delhi, India, in March 2023. The win also made him the most successful Filipino golfer in Asian Tour history, breaking his tie with Angelo Que, and earned him US$360,000 (around ₱21 million) in prize money.
“I wasn’t 100 percent this week. I withdrew from an event last week because of neck spasms, but somehow we got it done,” Tabuena shared. “It was humbling to see the support from the fans no matter what kind of shot I hit.”
Tabuena called the victory “truly special,” adding:
“This is the biggest golf event the Philippines has ever hosted. To win it as a Filipino, in front of my people, is an incredible honor.”
The win keeps Tabuena in the hunt for the International Series Order of Merit crown and a potential LIV Golf berth. He is set to fly to Hong Kong on Monday, October 27, before competing in upcoming legs in Singapore and Saudi Arabia.
As of now, Scott Vincent of Zimbabwe leads the IS rankings with 306.4 points, while Tabuena sits in second with 210.89 points after collecting 180 points from his victory at Sta. Elena.
