Filipino prospect Jayson Vayson is vying for a breakthrough as he is set to face undefeated Puerto Rican world champion Oscar Collazo on Sept. 20 at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in California.
Vayson, a huge betting underdog, is seeking Collazo’s World Boxing Organization (WBO), World Boxing Association (WBA), and Ring Magazine Minimumweight titles in his first foray on American soil.
The 27-year-old is coming off a second-round knockout of hometown favorite Jirawat Aaiamong last month in Thailand, which boosted his record to 14-1-1 with eight knockouts.

The fight will mark Vayson’s first fight at 105 pounds since before the pandemic, and he will do so against Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions’ potential next superstar.
Collazo boasts a perfect 12-0-0 win-loss-draw slate, alongside nine stoppages, one of which was in his latest defense against Mexican Edwin Hernandez last March.
Vayson will also fight for redemption for former WBO minimumweight champion and fellow Filipino Melvin Jerusalem, whom Collazo stopped in the seventh round.
The Agusan del Sur native has been training at the Knuckleheads Boxing Gym in Las Vegas since last month.
The fight is scheduled on Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California.
