Eldrew Yulo and Elisabeth Antone lead the Philippines’ bid at the 2025 Junior Gymnastics World Championships

The Philippines is quickly emerging as a favorable destination for hosting sporting events in Southeast Asia, and the country is once again in the spotlight as it gears up to host the 3rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics Junior World Championships.

The event is scheduled to take place from November 20 to 24, with athletes from 93 countries expected to participate and over 2,000 visitors anticipated to arrive in the country.

Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP) president Cynthia Carrion confirmed that gymnasts Eldrew Yulo and Elisabeth Antone will represent the Philippines in the competition. She expressed confidence in the duo’s ability to deliver strong performances.

“I can only take two — one man and one woman — because we did not attend the event in Turkey, so we cannot have more than one male and one female gymnast,” Carrion explained during the media launch of the Junior World Championships. “Eldrew and Elisabeth Antone — both of them are training abroad. Elisabeth is in the US, and Eldrew is training in Japan. He’s our best. We had an evaluation. Also, Elisabeth Antone won the all-around bronze in Korea,” Carrion said.

“Cheer for them when you see them. I know they are capable of performing well. Knowing Eldrew and Elisabeth — they are very talented and can compete against the best. We just have to believe. I know they are giving their full effort to bring home a medal. This is also a great opportunity for them to gain international experience,” she added.

There is no doubt that both Eldrew and Elisabeth are among the top young gymnasts in the Philippines. Yulo won a silver medal in the vault event at the Asian Junior Artistic Gymnastics Championships last June in Jecheon, South Korea, while Elisabeth secured bronze in the girls’ all-around in the same tournament.

The media launch for the Junior World Championships was held on Thursday, August 14, with officials from the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), FIG, Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG), and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) in attendance.
