EJ Obiena launches online course to mentor young Filipino athletes

Filipino pole vault icon EJ Obiena has firmly established himself as one of the country’s greatest athletes at just 30 years old. With numerous international achievements and a stint as the World No. 2 pole vaulter, Obiena continues to cement his legacy as Asia’s top talent in the event.

Now, the Filipino star is set to share his knowledge with aspiring athletes through a short online course titled “What It Takes,” to be hosted on the training platform Kajabi. The program aims to guide young competitors on the discipline, mindset, and principles required to reach elite level success.

“Wherever I go, I get the same two to three questions from parents, coaches, and young athletes particularly around ‘What does it take in terms of discipline and the mental game, to be the best?’, and as I cannot answer every question due to heavy training load, I felt a Kajabi course was a smart and cost-effective way to reach millions,” Obiena said in a media interaction.

“Being an engineering student, I looked at technologies to enable me to help as many young athletes as possible. I have built a simple philosophy I call ‘The 3 UPs of success’ and that’s what I cover in the course,” he added.

Priced at under USD 20 (around PHP 1,200), Obiena’s course offers young Filipino athletes accessible mentorship that they can apply not just in sports, but in any field they pursue.

According to Obiena, every enrollee receives the following:

  • A full training program delivered through Kajabi’s interactive platform, accessible at their own pace and organized into clear modules. Participants will learn from Obiena and his coach about mastering the mental side of training and competition.
  • Membership in an exclusive community, including access to periodic live webinars with Obiena where athletes can ask questions directly and engage with him.
  • The opportunity to help others, as proceeds from the course will fund the development of pole vault facilities in underserved provinces across the Philippines.

“My coach and mentor James Michael Lafferty introduced me to Kajabi which is arguably the world’s leading platform for hosting such a mentoring and coaching program. No matter where you are in the world you can access and participate, at your own pace.

“And to really help, anyone who has completed the ‘3 UPS’ also can join me in a private quarterly webinar. I want to answer their questions and help them out long term,” Obiena concluded.

The initiative supports Obiena’s long-term vision of building world-class pole vault facilities nationwide, ensuring that every province gives young athletes a chance to chase their dreams.
