Dwight Ramos playing his best season in the KBL yet

Dwight Ramos is in the midst of the finest season of his professional career, powering Levanga Hokkaido to one of the best starts in franchise history and firmly establishing himself as one of the top all-around Filipino imports in Japan’s B.League.

Now in his third year with Hokkaido, Ramos has elevated his play on both ends of the floor, embracing a larger role while delivering career-high production. 

Through the first stretch of the season, the Gilas Pilipinas mainstay is averaging 13.2 points, 3.1 assists, and steady contributions across the board.

“All around, the stats have been like career highs this year,” Ramos said.

His growth has been evident in late-game situations, where he has consistently taken on playmaking responsibilities and provided critical offensive sparks.

But Ramos’ rise is only part of the story. Levanga Hokkaido, which is considered a rebuilding team, has suddenly transformed into one of the league’s biggest early surprises.

The club is sitting at 14–4 heading into the international break, tied for second in the East, and keeping pace with perennial powerhouse Utsunomiya.

Hokkadio only won 19 games in Ramos’ debut season and endured an even rougher campaign last year.

Key offseason additions have helped reshape the roster as former G-League sharpshooter Hiroki Tominaga has provided reliable spacing, hitting nearly 38 percent of his three-pointers, while the arrival of former NBA big man Jahlil Okafor has given the club an anchor inside, with the veteran center averaging 15.4 points and 8.4 rebounds.

Despite his strong individual run, Ramos is already shifting focus to the upcoming international window, where he will once again suit up for Gilas Pilipinas. 

The national team is preparing for its opening games in the FIBA World Cup 2027 Asian Qualifiers, starting with a crucial set against Guam.

“These are games that we need to win,” he said.
