Rumors of match-fixing have surrounded Filipino boxer John Riel Casimero after his decision loss against Kyonosuke Kameda at the Bishkek Arena on Saturday, Oct. 25.

The rumors escalated after Casimero’s trainer and brother, Jayson Casimero, said that they needed to lose against Kameda to escalate their plans in the future.

Fans on social media also joined in to accuse Casimero of match-fixing after their bet on the former world champion failed.

Some fans sent an email to the  Games and Amusements Board (GAB) after reportedly betting their tuition fees, motorcycles, and even cows due to tips that assured them it was a “sure-win” for Casimero.

Casimero, who was a former International Boxing Federation (IBF) Junior-Flyweight and Flyweight and World Boxing Organization (WBO) Bantamweight king, absorbed his first defeat since 2017.
