Philippine Volleyball League (PVL) powerhouse Creamline Cool Smashers have bolstered their roster ahead of the upcoming Reinforced Conference by signing American outside hitter Courtney Schwan as their guest import.
The Cool Smashers announced the move on their social media platforms, saying:
“Super excited kami to share with you mga ka-vibes ang newest addition sa ating GV-kada! Sabay-sabay nating i-welcome si Courtney Schwan, ang ating pinakabagong Pink Volleybelle. Welcome Courtney, and we are so excited to see the good vibes you will bring in and out of the court.”

Schwan, 29, brings a wealth of international experience. A former University of Washington Husky, she won Pac-12 Player of the Year honors in 2016 before embarking on a professional career that spanned six seasons in Europe, including stints in France, Greece, and most recently with Aeroitalia SMI Roma Volley Club in Italy.
She last played for the Orlando Valkyries in the United States’ Major League Volleyball (MLV) and now joins a Creamline side aiming to add to its 10 PVL titles.
Schwan is expected to boost a spiker-heavy rotation that already features Alyssa Valdez and Jema Galanza on the wings, with Michele Gumabao in the opposite position.
Her arrival comes after Creamline failed to retain star import Erica Staunton, who was instrumental in last year’s Grand Slam title run and won Best Outside Hitter honors. Staunton has since signed with CV Melilla in Spain’s Superliga Femenina de Voleibol.
Schwan will be tasked with filling that void while integrating quickly into the Cool Smashers’ system as the team seeks to reassert its dominance in the upcoming Reinforced Conference.
