The Cignal HD Spikers continued their perfect start to the ongoing Premier Volleyball League (PVL) On Tour preseason tournament by stunning powerhouse Creamline Cool Smashers, 25–22, 25–18, 28–26, at the FilOil EcoOil Arena on Tuesday, July 1.
The win ended Cignal’s three-year drought against Creamline, marking their first victory over the Cool Smashers since the 2022 PVL Reinforced Conference and snapping an eight-game losing streak. It also kept their undefeated run in the preseason tournament intact.
Erika Santos led the charge for Cignal, top-scoring with 18 points, while Ishie Lalongisip contributed 15 points, 10 excellent receptions, and seven digs. Rose Doria-Aquino added 10 points, and team captain Gel Cayuna demonstrated her leadership with five points and 22 excellent sets.
HD Spikers head coach Shaq Delos Santos praised his team’s effort and resilience after the match.
“We are so happy. Honestly, we didn’t expect to win in straight sets. We’re really proud of the team—our coaches, players, and even the management for their support. The way we prepared for this match, everyone gave their all. We still make errors, but what’s important is how we bounce back. This win will help us improve further,” said Delos Santos.
Creamline, on the other hand, struggled to find rhythm throughout the match. Michele Gumabao was the only Cool Smashers player to reach double digits in scoring with 11 points and seven digs, while Alyssa Valdez and Jema Galanza were limited to nine and eight points, respectively.
Cignal now tops Pool A with a perfect 3–0 record and will look to extend their winning streak when they face the Chery Tiggo Crossovers after a long break on Saturday, July 19, at the City of Passi Arena.
Creamline, now with a 2–1 record, sits in second place in Pool A and will aim to bounce back against the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles on the same date and venue.
