The final day of the PVL Reinforced Conference preliminaries delivered major swings in momentum, surprising heroes, and clear statements from teams heading into the quarterfinals.

Capital1 Turns Disaster Into a Season-Saving Comeback

Capital1 began its match in rough form, getting blown out in the first set 12-25 by Galeries Tower. Things nearly got worse when they fell behind 21-24 in Set 2, but the Solar Spikers staged a crucial three-point rally and stole the frame 29-27.

From there, they controlled Sets 3 and 4 for a 12-25, 29-27, 25-19, 25-18 victory.

What changed the match wasn’t just the scoring—it was the entry of young setter Nika Yandoc, who replaced Iris Tolenada and delivered 19 excellent sets, earning her first-ever Best Player of the Game award. Her calm play helped unlock the trio of Sasha Bytsenko, Bella Belen, and Sydney Niegos, who led the comeback.

Capital1 finished the prelims at 4-4, with a chance to move up to sixth depending on PLDT–Petro Gazz’s result.

Galeries Tower, despite strong efforts from Jelena Cvijovic (18 points) and France Ronquillo (17), ended its campaign 0-8.

Farm Fresh Claims No. 1 Position—For Now

Farm Fresh kept its hot streak alive by defeating Chery Tiggo 25-17, 25-23, 29-27 in a match filled with clutch plays. The win put the Foxies at 7-1 (21 points), temporarily overtaking ZUS Coffee for the top seed.

Imports and locals combined well, with Rosseaux scoring 20, Ces Molina adding 14, and Trisha Tubu putting up 13.

Setter Alexis Robins-Hardy emphasized the team’s mindset; “nothing absolutely perfect, but we’re striving for that. Being a lot steadier throughout the match – no matter how many sets – we’re just going to keep working.”

Chery Tiggo ended at 2-6, led by Yuni Batista’s 28 points.

Petro Gazz Outlasts PLDT in Four-Set Battle

The most dramatic match of the day saw Petro Gazz beat PLDT in four tight sets behind a massive 35-point performance from Lindsey Vander Weide.

Brooke Van Sickle added 27 as the Angels outgunned the High Speed Hitters 76-59 in attacks.

PLDT fought hard, highlighted by Savi Davison’s 27 points and a late rally in Set 4 where they saved four straight match points thanks to the incredible defense of Kath Arado. But Vander Weide finally broke through with a zero-tempo kill to end the match.
