Titan Ultra Giant Risers guard Calvin Abueva is eager to show his former team Magnolia Hotshots that they made a mistake in trading him.

Abueva, who played for Magnolia from 2021 up until last season, is reportedly hungry for revenge and is looking to play in the Giant Risers’ game against the Hotshots this Friday, Oct. 17, despite being sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Basta ever since mag take over ang Titan, yung game against Magnolia ang laging binabanggit ni Calvin,” a source told Spin.PH

“Gusto raw ipakita ni ‘The Beast’ na siya ang TOTGA ng Magnolia, the one that got away,” he added.

So eager is the former Alaska star that he attended Magnolia’s practice session on Monday but was not cleared to play by the team.

“Nagpunta sa ensayo pero hindi namin pinalaro kasi hamstring yun. Pero gigil,” A Titan Ultra coaching staff member said.

The staff member stressed that Abueva will not play against his former team without clearance from the team’s doctor.

“Hamstring yan, recurring yan. So, we don’t want to risk it. If no green light, he can’t play,” he said.

“May 3 days pa naman pero I doubt. If di siya payagan ng team doctor at ng doctor nya, sorry Calvin,” added the staff member.

The Beast started productively as a Hotshot in 2021, however, his numbers dipped until Magnolia traded him to Titan Ultra’s former team, Northport Batang Pier, last season.

Abueva recorded his career-high of 41 points in Titan Ultra’s debut game against the Meralco Bolts last Wednesday, Oct. 8.
