Boxing legend Timothy Bradley believes Floyd Mayweather would still beat Manny Pacquiao in a potential rematch

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao—two of boxing’s greatest icons—continue to dominate global boxing conversations nearly a decade after their long-awaited 2015 showdown.

Their first meeting, billed as the “Battle of the Century,” took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and shattered financial records, producing $410 million in U.S. revenue alone. The bout remains the highest-grossing pay-per-view (PPV) event in boxing history.

Mayweather won by unanimous decision (116–112, 116–112, 118–110), strengthening his claim as one of the sport’s all-time greats. He retired from professional boxing in 2017 but has remained active through a series of lucrative exhibition matches.

Pacquiao, now 46, recently returned to the ring to face WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios—a performance that reignited global speculation about a potential rematch with Mayweather. The Filipino legend confirmed that discussions for a second fight are indeed underway.

Former world champion Timothy Bradley—who fought Pacquiao three times, winning once and losing twice—has weighed in on the possible rematch, expressing confidence that Mayweather would prevail again.

“Manny, I think, is a little bit younger than Mayweather. Mayweather’s been very active, you know, doing exhibitions. He is constantly training. He is never out of shape. Manny Pacquiao seems to be that type of fighter as well. Special fighters can do special things, you know what I’m saying,” Bradley told FightHype.

“Many people thought that he won the fight against Barrios. Barrios is no easy task, man. You know, he is not. And Manny was able to go in there and do what he did against Barrios. And so, look, I will tell you this, though. There’s levels man.

“Mayweather’s already shown that he can beat Manny Pacquiao. I feel Mayweather still today with his age, even combined with his age, he still will serve and beat Manny Pacquiao. The fight, I think that the first fight was a dud. I think Manny coming in, quote unquote, with a shoulder injury, then made it even worse, you know what I mean?

“But I just still think that Mayweather’s style and the way he’s able to maintain his distance and fight on the outside and keep Manny reaching and countering him on the way in. I don’t think that’s going to be the same thing, you know? The same thing if they do this second installment,” Bradley concluded.

Beyond the possible Mayweather rematch, Pacquiao has also been linked to prospective bouts with WBA champion Rolly Romero and former two-time Olympic gold medalist Vasyl Lomachenko.

Outside the ring, Pacquiao continues to influence the sport’s development. He was recently appointed vice president of the International Boxing Association (IBA), where he works alongside president Umar Kremlev to strengthen grassroots programs and support amateur boxing worldwide.

Mayweather, meanwhile, remains active in high-profile exhibitions but has not publicly commented on the prospect of facing Pacquiao again.

With both legends still active in various capacities and discussions reportedly ongoing, boxing fans worldwide are once again daring to hope for a second historic showdown between two of the sport’s most iconic figures.
