Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao, two of boxing’s all-time greats, remain at the center of the sport’s biggest conversations decades after their historic clash.
After years of anticipation, the two finally faced off in 2015 in the so-called “Battle of the Century” at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The bout shattered records, generating $410 million in the U.S. alone and becoming the highest-grossing pay-per-view (PPV) event in boxing history.
Mayweather emerged victorious by unanimous decision (116-112, 116-112, 118-110), cementing his legacy among boxing’s elite. He retired from professional boxing in August 2017 but has since participated in several high-profile exhibition fights.

At 46 years old, Pacquiao recently returned to the ring to face WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios, reigniting speculation of a potential rematch with Mayweather. The Filipino icon has confirmed that talks are ongoing regarding another bout.
Boxing legend Roy Jones Jr., a former multi-division world champion, weighed in on the possibility during an interview with Fight Hub TV:
“If they can do it and make the money doing it, it’s a great move for both of them. I don’t hate nobody for making money… Manny’s chances go up now because he is not injured this time. They both are a bit older, so if he can stay busier, we will see.”
“Can Floyd still punch hard enough to get him out? I think he probably can. Can Manny avoid Floyd’s knockout punch and out-punch him? That’s what I’m thinking,” Jones added.
Beyond Mayweather, Pacquiao has also been linked to bouts against WBA champion Rolly Romero and former two-time Olympic gold medalist Vasyl Lomachenko.
Off the canvas, Pacquiao continues to shape the sport. He was recently named vice president of the International Boxing Association (IBA), working alongside president Umar Kremlev to promote grassroots boxing and develop amateur fighters worldwide.
Mayweather, meanwhile, has been active in lucrative exhibition matches, though he has yet to comment publicly on the possibility of facing Pacquiao again.
With both fighters still active and discussion ongoing, boxing fans around the world are once again hoping for another historic showdown between two of the sport’s most iconic figures.
