Bjorn Kristensen’s 4 goals power PH past Timor Leste in Asian Qualifiers

Bjorn Kristensen had a four-goal masterclass to propel the Philippines past Timor Leste, 4-1, in the third round of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers at the Territory Rugby League Stadium on Thursday.

The Philippines rose atop the Group A standings with seven points with Tajikstan, while Timor Leste dropped to third place with three points.

Kristensen tapped in a rebound from Sandro Reyes’ initial shot to put the Filipinos up by one in the 15th minute.

The lead was doubled before halftime, 2-0, after Kristensen’s spectacular solo run and eventual goal in the 31st minute.

Timor Leste cut the deficit to one after exploiting the Philippines’ defense nearly minutes after halftime, 2-1.

Another deflection allowed Kristensen to score another goal in the 49th minute, before completing his quadruple after an exquisite cross from Reyes in the 56th minute.

The Philippines will look to do the same as they face Timor Leste once again at home at the New Clark City Stadium on Tuesday, Oct. 14.
