Back-to-Back Brilliance: Lyann De Guzman leads Nxled to a shock win over Choco Mucho in the PVL On Tour

The Nxled Chameleons continued their strong form in the ongoing 2025 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) On Tour preseason tournament by recording their second consecutive win on Sunday, June 29.

Nxled stunned the higher-ranked Choco Mucho Flying Titans, 25-20, 26-28, 27-25, 25-22, at the Batangas City Sports Center in a performance that has surprised the Philippine volleyball world.

The Chameleons were once again led by rookie Lyann De Guzman, who turned heads with a commanding display of power, poise, and purpose, unleashing 24 points—20 kills, three aces, and a block. She also registered 12 excellent receptions and nine digs.

This display followed her brilliant debut performance for Nxled in their shock five-set win over the Petro Gazz Angels on Saturday, June 28, where she announced her arrival with 21 points.

“Excited ako sa team na ’to. Nakikita ko talaga ’yung potential—alam kong aabot kami sa Final Four sa tournament na ’to,” De Guzman said after receiving her second straight Player of the Game award.

The 24-year-old received strong support from team captain Chiara Permentilla, who finished with 19 points, while Jovelyn Fernandez recorded 14 points. EJ Carino and Krich Macaslang added six and five points, respectively.

“It was a collective effort for everyone. Whoever is inside, we know that we can rely on them. And we wanted to fight and win for everyone,” Permentilla added.

Nxled now have a long break before they aim to secure a third consecutive win when they face the Galeries Tower Highrisers on Tuesday, July 15, at the FilOil EcoOil Arena. Choco Mucho, meanwhile, have dropped to third in the Pool A standings with a 1-1 win-loss record. They will aim to bounce back from this loss when they face the Farm Fresh Foxies in their next game on Saturday, July 12, at the Capital Arena in Ilagan City.
