Anna DeBeer drops 37 as ZUS Coffee shocks Creamline to stay unbeaten in PVL Reinforced Conference

ZUS Coffee brewed another statement win, stunning powerhouse Creamline in four sets, 25-27, 25-17, 25-20, 25-22, to keep its perfect record intact in the 2025 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference on Thursday at the Playtime Filoil Centre.

Behind a scorching 37-point explosion from American import Anna DeBeer, the Thunderbelles continued their dream start to the season and tightened their hold atop Pool B with a spotless 3-0 slate — tying sister team Farm Fresh as the league’s last remaining unbeaten squads.

After dropping a tight opening frame, ZUS Coffee found its rhythm and never looked back.

DeBeer’s relentless scoring kept Creamline at bay every time the defending champions threatened to mount a trademark comeback, while the locals provided timely support on both ends.

“Ngayon, meron kaming sasandalan kaya ‘yung kumpyansa nabi-build at ‘yung skills lumalabas kapag meron kang teammate na ganyan. Everybody is stepping up, especially Anna,” said head coach Jerry Yee, praising DeBeer’s leadership and composure in pressure moments.

DeBeer, who previously faced Creamline’s import Courtney Schwan in the U.S. Major League Volleyball (MLV), thrived once again under the bright lights. “Obviously, Creamline is so good, [so] it was nice to have everybody step up in different moments and obviously making adjustments from what they were doing. They were making adjustments, so it really pushed us to be the best version of ourselves,” she said.

Middle blocker AC Miner anchored ZUS Coffee’s defense with 13 points, including five blocks and an ace, while Riza Nogales added seven markers.

Veteran Jovelyn Gonzaga contributed just six points but turned in a defensive masterclass, tallying 12 digs and 12 receptions to neutralize Creamline’s hitters.

Despite the loss, Creamline’s core remained competitive, with Courtney Schwan leading the way with 18 points and 11 digs. Alyssa Valdez had 13 points and 11 receptions, while Tots Carlos and Pangs Panaga added 11 apiece. Michele Gumabao chipped in 10, but Creamline’s 25 unforced errors proved costly.

Setter Kyle Negrito struggled to find her rhythm, finishing with just 14 excellent sets in the match that lasted nearly two hours.

The victory marked ZUS Coffee’s most impressive win yet in its young franchise history — a signature triumph over one of the league’s most decorated teams.

ZUS Coffee looks to extend its unbeaten streak when it faces Petro Gazz on Tuesday at 4 p.m., while Creamline seeks redemption against Chery Tiggo EV at 6:30 p.m., both at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.
