Alohi Robins-Hardy’s Farm Fresh only preference will not be allowed says PVL

The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) has reaffirmed its stance that Alohi Robins-Hardy must enter the league’s Rookie Draft to play for the Farm Fresh Foxies, as she has not been part of any team since the league’s professionalization in 2021. PVL Commissioner Sherwin Malonzo emphasized that players who haven’t participated in the league during this period are required to go through the draft process.

PVL President Ricky Palou clarified that if Alohi Robins-Hardy enters the draft and another team selects her and she refuses to play for that team, she could face sanctions.

“If another team decides to draft her and she says she refuses to play for that particular team, there will be sanctions,” Palou said.

He also added that the league will convene to determine what specific penalties would apply if such a situation occurs. This firm stance emphasizes the PVL’s intent to uphold the integrity and fairness of the rookie draft system, ensuring that no player bypasses the process to join a preferred team regardless of prior discussions or agreements.

Farm Fresh owner Frank Lao appealed to the PVL, citing a prior agreement with PVL President Ricky Palou that Robins-Hardy could play if she presented a valid Philippine passport. However, the PVL maintained that its established rules take precedence, and Robins-Hardy must comply with the draft requirements. 

Robins-Hardy, a former national team member, expressed her disappointment but remains hopeful for future opportunities to compete in the PVL.
