Alohi Robins-Hardy puts controversy behind her after being selected as the No. 3 pick by Farm Fresh

The Farm Fresh Foxies got the player they had always wanted in the 2025 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Rookie Draft held on Sunday, June 8, at the Novotel Manila hotel in Quezon City, by selecting Alohi Robins-Hardy as the No. 3 overall pick.

Robins-Hardy’s selection brought an end to the controversy that began last year when Farm Fresh attempted to sign the Filipino-American star as a free agent, with the player herself stating that she would only play for the Foxies in the PVL or head overseas.

This did not sit well with PVL president Ricky Palou, who warned that if a team other than Farm Fresh selected her and she refused to play, she could face sanctions from the league authorities.

However, with both the player and the club getting their choice, the 29-year-old confirmed during a media interaction after the draft that she was relieved to put the controversy behind her.

“Honestly, right now, I’m more relieved than excited. As you have heard, it’s because I finally get to go on the court—finally get to play the sport that I love,” Robins-Hardy stated.

After her move to Farm Fresh fell through last year, the setter kept herself busy by taking on multiple coaching roles, including deputy coaching stints with both Farm Fresh and the University of the Philippines, both of which are part of the Strong Group Athletics (SGA) program under owner Frank Lao.

Robins-Hardy was glad to gain coaching experience, as it has given her a better understanding of the game.

“I think it helps me on the coaching side to see it both ways. I know the players sometimes have a hard time communicating with coaches, and I got to see that quite a bit last season. I’m hoping that I can help with that this coming season,” she added.

The setter brings a wealth of experience to the Farm Fresh squad, having played professionally in Serbia, France, and the Czech Republic, along with representing the Philippine national team during her career.
