Alas standout Alyssa Solomon gears up for season with Osaka Marvelous in Japan S.V.League

Fresh off her stint with Alas Pilipinas and the NU Lady Bulldogs, Alyssa Solomon has officially begun training with Osaka Marvelous, the defending champions of Japan’s SV.League, as she gears up for her first season overseas.

The 22-year-old opposite hitter arrived in Japan earlier this month and immediately joined team practices, immersing herself in Osaka’s system. 

Known for their fast-paced, disciplined style, the Marvelous have welcomed Solomon as their newest weapon as they prepare to defend their title in the league’s upcoming season opener this October.

“I am very honored and excited to join Osaka Marvelous … I would like to improve myself more and contribute to the club as much as possible,” Solomon shared in her official introduction.

Her entry into daily training marks a new chapter for the former NU Lady Bulldog. Solomon, who powered NU to multiple UAAP titles and shone with Alas Pilipinas, is now focused on adjusting to the tempo and technical precision of Japanese volleyball.

Osaka, one of Japan’s most storied clubs, has a reputation for nurturing international talent, previously featuring Filipino star Jaja Santiago (Sachi Minowa) in their roster. With Solomon’s arrival, the team hopes to add another layer of firepower on offense while grooming her for long-term growth.

The road ahead won’t be easy—Solomon herself acknowledged the adjustment to training intensity and language barriers—but the move is widely seen as a huge step forward not only for her career but also for Philippine volleyball exports.
