AC Miner aims for a bigger role with ZUS Coffee after winning the Rookie of the Conference award

The ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles secured one of their top priorities in last June’s Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Rookie Draft, selecting AC Miner with the fifth overall pick. Just months later, the young middle blocker has more than justified that choice, emerging as one of the Philippines’ brightest prospects and capturing the Rookie of the Conference award in the recently concluded 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference.

Miner, 23, capped her debut conference with 82 total points—second among all rookies—and averaged 10.25 points per match. She also finished eighth in the league in blocking with 0.55 per set, underscoring her rapid rise as a reliable force in the middle.

In the Thunderbelles’ finals loss to the Petro Gazz Angels, Miner delivered one of her strongest outings, finishing with 16 points and six kill blocks.

“Very fulfilling kasi first year ko and nakarating kami rito. ‘Di ako makakarating dito kung hindi dahil sa teammates ko, very grateful lang. Drinaft ako ng ZUS and very grateful sa playing time na ibinibigay nila sa akin. So I think mas marami pa kaming mararating in the future dahil sa nasimulan na ito,” Miner said in the post-match press conference.

She admitted that the Rookie of the Conference honor came as a surprise, but said it has only fueled her desire to improve.

“Siyempre very big confidence booster kasi ‘di ko inaasahan na makakakuha pala ako ng ganitong award. Sana magtuluy-tuloy. But start pa lang ito so paninindigan ko itong award na ito,” she added.

After a breakout rookie campaign, Miner is eager to take on an even larger role as ZUS Coffee enters the upcoming All-Filipino Conference with heightened expectations and renewed ambition.
