A new chapter in Philippine basketball has begun as Pureblends Corp. officially takes over the NorthPort Batang Pier franchise, unveiling the Titan Ultra Giant Risers as the league’s newest team ahead of the Philippine Basketball Association’s (PBA) 50th season.

The confirmation came on Monday, September 29, when veteran forward Calvin Abueva shared a sneak peek of the team’s rebranded jersey on Instagram, showcasing the new name and identity. With this move, the NorthPort era officially comes to a close, making way for Titan Ultra’s bold entrance into the league.

Pureblends Corp. team governor Emil Tiu addressed the media during the PBA Season 50 press conference, laying out the team’s vision and long-term commitment to the league.

“We know we’re a new team, and you can’t become champions in one year,” said Tiu. “But we’re focused on developing good players in two to three years. We have a complete lineup now, and we’ll give the strong teams a fight. We won’t just call them ‘kuya’—we’re going to compete.”

Tiu emphasized that Pureblends Corp. aims to stay in the PBA for the long haul, stating their goal is to be part of the league for the next 50 years. According to Tiu, entering during the PBA’s golden anniversary was a strategic choice.

“We waited for this year—the PBA’s 50th—to come in. It’s all about exposure and timing. The quality of competition in the PBA is high, and we’re ready to be part of that.”

The new team name, Titan Ultra, doubles as a branding initiative for Pureblends’ new product line. The company, known for its coffee, juice powder, and beauty products, introduced Titan Ultra as both a team name and a flagship brand to make a strong impact in the sports and consumer markets alike.

“We initially considered using one of our older products, but Titan Ultra gives us the chance to make a fresh impression. It aligns with the spirit of performance and strength we want the team to represent,” Tiu added.

Titan Ultra enters the league with a promising core that includes Calvin Abueva, Joshua Munzon, Cade Flores, and Von Pessumal. They also bolstered their roster by selecting Ateneo standout Chris Koon as the fourth overall pick in the recent PBA Rookie Draft.

In addition, sources confirm that the franchise is set to finalize its first official trade, sending guard James Kwekuteye to the Phoenix Fuel Masters in exchange for center Ato Ular.

As the PBA celebrates its golden anniversary, Titan Ultra aims not just to introduce a new brand and jersey—but to establish a new culture grounded in performance, integrity, and sustainable success.
