UST Growling Tigers head coach Pido Jarencio is set to be appointed Terrafirma Dyip’s team governor for the PBA’s historic 50th season.
The 61-year-old will fill the hole left by former team governor Bobby Rosales, who vacated the post after buyout attempts from Starhorse Shipping Lines and Zamboanga Valientes failed to materialize.
Jarencio was Northport Batang Pier’s team manager last season after holding the head coach position for a couple of seasons.
His son, Jaren, is part of new head coach Ronald Tubid’s coaching staff, while fellow UAAP coach Jeff Napa serves as the team’s deputy.

The former UST player was appointed the Growling Tigers’ head coach in 2023 and has since led UST to multiple improvements in the UAAP, culminating in a 2-0 win-loss record this Season 88, following wins against defending champions UP Fighting Maroons and finalists DLSU Green Archers.
In 2006, he returned to España to lead his alma mater UST back to the UAAP throne. Against all odds, he guided the Tigers to the Season 69 championship, ending a decade-long drought.
He entered the PBA in 1986 and carved out a 12-year career with stints at Ginebra San Miguel, Great Taste Coffee Makers, Shell Rimula X, and Pepsi Hotshotts and averaged 9.6 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.
