Lindsey Vander Weide reunites with Petro Gazz for Reinforced Conference

The Petro Gazz Angels are bringing back one of the most defining figures of their championship history.

Former Best Import Lindsey Vander Weide is set to suit up once again for the Angels in the 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference, a return nearly three years in the making. 

The club made the announcement Monday evening, immediately igniting buzz among fans eager to see the high-flying outside hitter back in red and white.

Vander Weide carved her name into Petro Gazz lore in 2022 when she powered the squad to its Reinforced Conference crown. That run was nothing short of dominant — she scored 161 points to finish as the tournament’s fourth-best scorer, ranked second in serving efficiency, and placed fourth in spiking percentage.

Her all-around brilliance culminated in dual honors: the league’s inaugural Best Foreign Guest Player award and Finals MVP, after steering the Angels to a sweep of Cignal in the title series.

The timing of her return couldn’t be better. Petro Gazz is riding the momentum of an All-Filipino Conference championship earlier this year, and the roster remains anchored by key pieces from Vander Weide’s first stint. 

Among them is longtime friend Brooke Van Sickle, her former teammate at the University of Oregon, giving this reunion an added sense of familiarity.

Though the coaching staff has changed and new talents have joined the fold, Vander Weide arrives with even more experience under her belt. 

Since leaving the PVL, she has played in Puerto Rico with Changas de Naranjito and in the United States with the San Diego Mojo, Athletes Unlimited, and the Orlando Valkyries — stints that sharpened her game and reinforced her reputation as a world-class competitor.

For Petro Gazz, her return is more than just a roster boost; it’s a symbolic reminder of their winning pedigree. For Vander Weide, it’s a chance to write the next chapter of a partnership that already delivered one championship — with the promise of more to come.
