Galeries Tower signs Jelena Cvijovic as its import for the PVL Reinforced Conference

The Galeries Tower Highrisers have bolstered their roster ahead of the upcoming 2025-26 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference with the signing of seasoned Montenegrin outside hitter Jelena Cvijovic.

The club announced the acquisition via social media, stating: “Big move. Big heart. Please welcome Jelena Cvijovic to the Highriser family! A new chapter begins with the #HighriseHustle.”

Cvijovic makes her return to the Philippines after last suiting up for the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in the 2022 PVL Reinforced Conference. Though her numbers during that stint were relatively modest compared to other imports, she earned respect for her consistency, efficiency, and strong two-way presence. She played a pivotal role in Chery Tiggo’s fourth-place finish, which included a tough bronze medal series loss to the Creamline Cool Smashers.

The 6-foot outside hitter brings a wealth of international experience, having played in professional leagues across Europe and North Africa. Following her 2022 PVL campaign, Cvijovic went on to compete for GS Panionios and EA Larissa in Greece, AEL Limassol in Cyprus, and Club Sportif Sfaxien in Tunisia.

Her return is seen as a significant upgrade for a Highrisers squad that struggled mightily in the previous Reinforced Conference, finishing 11th despite the efforts of Thai import Sutadta Chuewulim. In the offseason, the club initiated a coaching shake-up—parting ways with head coach Lema Giron and appointing veteran tactician Godfrey Okumu.

Cvijovic is expected to bring leadership and firepower to a youthful Highrisers lineup led by rising talents Julia Coronel, Jean Asis, Jhewel Encarnacion, Ysa Jimenez, and Franco Ronquillo.

With Cvijovic on board, the Highrisers are aiming for a resurgence as they prepare to kick off their campaign in October.
