Polish star doesn’t want PH to host FIVB Worlds again after unpleasant experience

Polish star Norbert Huber rued the Philippines’ hosting of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championships after unpleasant experiences.

Huber, a member of the Polish national team and professional team Wolfdogs Nagoya in Japan, said that the country has a lot to improve in terms of sanitary concerns.

World No. 1 Poland recently swept Turkiye to advance to punch their ticket to a semifinals clash against powerhouse Italy on Saturday, Sept. 27.

“Overall, it rains, the weather isn’t great. Besides that, it’s very humid. Everywhere indoors, it’s cold, and there are places where it smells really bad,” Huber said.

“I hope that the next major tournaments will be in other parts of the world,” he added.

Huber also noted the sanitation quality of the Mall of Asia Arena compared to the Smart Araneta Coliseum, which hosted some games of the group stages, specifically the locker rooms, which he said were more hygienic and had hot water in the showers.

“It’s much better. It’s a bit warmer, and it’s nicer. Now we even have hot water in the locker room and you can shower after the match, which is by no means obvious,” Huber explained.

“It’s also a bit cleaner, with better sanitary conditions. There’s no fear that something will crawl out from under the locker,” he added.

This comes after FIVB president Fabio Azevedo gave the country hosting of the international event a “10 out of 10.”
