Philippine boxing icon Manny Pacquiao, widely recognized as one of the greatest and most popular fighters in the history of the sport, is undoubtedly the greatest athlete to come from the Southeast Asian nation.
Pacquiao is set to make his streaming debut with Netflix, which recently unveiled its star-studded lineup for Physical: Asia—a show that pits nation versus nation in a spin-off of Physical: 100, where athletes compete in grueling physical challenges to win the top prize.
The 46-year-old will lead Team Philippines, heading a six-person squad featuring sambo athlete Mark Mugen, strongman Ray Jefferson Querubin, rugby player Justin Coveney, hurdler Robyn Lauren Brown, and CrossFit athlete Lara Liwanag.

“Each six-person squad is anchored by a national superstar who embodies the competitive spirit of their homeland. At its heart, the Physical series is about raw competition that transcends disciplines and generations. By bringing national pride into the equation, the battles will be more intense, more emotional, and more unforgettable than ever,” said Jang Ho-gi, producer of Physical: Asia.
Physical: Asia expands on the original Physical 100 format to include athletes from across the continent. Just as the Korean installment featured competitors from Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), boxing, and Wushu Sanda, Physical: Asia is expected to showcase additional elite athletes from Asia.
The series will feature 48 contestants from eight countries—Australia, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Mongolia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Turkey—participating in events that test strength, strategy, and teamwork.
“Physical: Asia is more than a clash of athletes; it’s a showcase of heritage, pride, and physical mastery on a global stage,” the statement added.
The series is set to premiere in October 2025, and it will be intriguing to see how Pacquiao competes, considering he is 46 years old and, while extremely fit for his age, will still face grueling tasks.
