Filipino tennis star Alex Eala will return to the Philippines and recover before playing in the Jingsha Open next week.
The Filipina posted an Instagram story with a caption, “Heading Homeeeeeee,” as she showed herself and her parents aboard a flight to the Philippines.
Eala has had a busy couple of weeks which she made strides in her young career, starting with the US Open last month.
She upset world No. 14 Clara Tauson of Denmark and joining Serena Williams as the only two players in the tournament’s history to come back from a 1-5 deficit.
The 20-year-old rallied from 1-5 down to pull a 7-6 (13-11) tiebreak victory. She exited the tournament in the next round after faltering against Spain’s Cristina Bucsa, but her month didn’t end there.

She then went on to capture her first WTA 125 event title after a stellar run in Mexico at the Guadalajara Open that capped off with a comeback victory against Hungary’s Panna Udvardy, 1-6, 7-5, 6-3.
Just last week, Eala sought to continue her hot form in a WTA 250 event at the Sao Paulo Open in Brazil, where she extended her winning streak to seven games.
Indonesia’s Janice Tjen eventually halted Eala’s streak in the quarterfinals 6-4, 6-1, with Eala looking worn out after a busy schedule.
She eventually rose to No. 57 in the rankings after her recent play, just one spot below her personal best.
After her well-deserved break, Eala will be back on the court at the Jingsha Open in China next week.
