For the Meralco Bolts , the upcoming EASL Home and Away Season 3 is more than just another international campaign—it’s a statement of intent in the franchise’s golden anniversary season.
The Bolts are going all-in, unveiling a high-powered reinforcement cast led by Puerto Rican national team standout Israel Romero, ex-NBA star Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, and Gilas Pilipinas’ beloved naturalized forward Justin Brownlee.
The signing of Romero gives Meralco a new dimension up front. At 6-foot-9, he brings international experience and inside presence that should complement Hollis-Jefferson’s versatility on both ends of the floor.
According to team governor Atty. Bill Pamintuan, Romero is expected to land in Manila on September 22, giving him ample time to blend into the Bolts’ system before the tournament tips off in October.
The Bolts aren’t done yet either. Under EASL regulations, teams are allowed two imports, one naturalized player, and an Asian import.

Meralco continues to scour the market for the right Asian piece, signaling just how serious the team is in chasing regional glory.
“This on our 50th season, we want to win the EASL,” emphasized PBA chairman Ricky Vargas, underscoring the urgency of the campaign.
Meralco has represented the PBA since the league joined the EASL three years ago but has yet to crack the semifinals. Their closest call came last season in a gut-wrenching double-overtime 109-96 defeat to the New Taipei Kings in a do-or-die game for the last Final Four slot.
That bitter memory now fuels the Bolts’ resolve. With Brownlee’s leadership, Hollis-Jefferson’s star power, and Romero’s arrival, Meralco is assembling its most formidable roster yet—one designed not only to compete but to contend.
For a franchise marking five decades of history, the EASL offers the perfect stage to celebrate with a breakthrough run.
