Terrafirma still for sale, says PBA chair

Despite multiple failed attempts at a sale, Terrafirma Dyp and its management are still interested in a potential sale ahead of the PBA’s historic 50th season.

PBA chairman Ricky Vargas said on the first day of the league’s annual planning session at the MGM Grand that the Terrafirma front office is still open to potential buyers for the 11-year-old team.

Although the opening of the league’s golden is near, Marcial also said that the management is still looking to get results as the “For Sale” sign still exists within its front yard.

“We talked to Terrafirma management. They’re committed to perform their best, and they’re committed to stay, but they also said that they are for sale,” Vargas said.

Vargas also said that the league will be closely vetting interested buyers following the failed bids of Starhorse Shipping Lines and Zamboanga Valientes due to the failed submission of requirements.

“Remember we have two interested applicants, but we have problems with submission of requirements. So we have to be a little more careful in vetting the companies that are interested to join the PBA,” the chair said.

“We have to vet more closely the companies that are interested,” added Vargas.

Terrafirma and its recently-appointed head coach, Ronald Tubid, recently drafted former Ateneo big man Geo Chiu as the first overall pick in the Draft, while also selecting Shawn Umali, Aurin Catacutan, Royce Alforque, and JM Bravo, among others.

In the same meeting, Vargas also stated that the Pureblends Corp. is close to its takeover of the Northport Batang Pier.
