Slovenia rides Luka Dončić’s dominance into EuroBasket 2025 Quarterfinals 

Luka Dončić is once again proving why he is one of basketball’s biggest stars, carrying Slovenia to the EuroBasket 2025 quarterfinals with jaw-dropping performances across every statistical category.

Through six games, Dončić has led his team in scoring, rebounding, assists, and steals—essentially doing it all for the Slovenians. He is averaging 34.0 points, 8.3 rebounds, 7.2 assists, and 3.2 steals per game, while shooting an efficient 46.2% from the field and a blistering 89.2% from the free-throw line.

His run peaked in Slovenia’s Round of 16 clash against Italy on September 7, where he exploded for 42 points on 57.9% shooting, while adding 10 rebounds. Dončić also went to work at the line, sinking 15 of his 16 free throws to ensure Slovenia advanced to the last eight.

Dončić’s consistency has been remarkable. He opened the tournament with 34 points against Poland, followed it up with 39 against France, and then poured in 37 versus Israel in the group stage. 

Even in his “quietest” outings against Belgium and Iceland, he still flirted with triple-doubles—posting 26 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists against Belgium, followed by another 26-point, 7-rebound showing versus Iceland.

Across the tournament, he has already registered five games with 25+ points and three games with double-digit rebounds, showcasing his ability to dominate both as a scorer and a facilitator.

Slovenia entered EuroBasket 2025 with questions about depth beyond their superstar, but Dončić’s brilliance has masked many of those concerns. With his ability to create offense from anywhere on the floor, Slovenia has become a dark horse threat in the knockout stages.

The quarterfinals now await, and the path forward will only get tougher. But if Dončić’s historic form continues, Slovenia will have a fighting chance against any opponent.
