Team Falcons continued their strong run at The International 2025 group stage, edging out Team Nemesis, a rising Filipino team, in a tense 2-1 best-of-three (BO3) series that went the distance with a marathon 70-minute decider.
The clash highlighted the grit of Nemesis, who earned their place in Shanghai after a dramatic SEA qualifier campaign, but ultimately fell short against the more seasoned Falcons roster.
The third map of the series lasted 70 minutes and 9 seconds, with Nemesis at one point holding a +9.6k net worth advantage. Led by Akashi’s Razor and Mac’s Leshrac, the Filipinos pushed Falcons to the brink, but Ammar “ATF” Al-Assaf’s unstoppable Bristleback and skiter’s late-game Sven swung the momentum back to the MENA powerhouse.
Veteran supports Cr1t- and Sneyking controlled the tempo with crucial teamfight setups, helping Falcons secure the comeback win.
For the Philippines’ lone representatives at TI, the series was a showcase of potential. Akashi exploded with 14 kills and 14 assists, while Mac racked up 11/6/20 numbers on Leshrac. Raven^ also contributed heavily with 10 kills and 22 assists on Dawnbreaker, giving Nemesis fans plenty of moments to cheer for.
Still, despite their explosive start and creative drafts, closing out games against elite-tier teams like Falcons proved to be the biggest hurdle.
The win adds to Falcons’ impressive form, coming off recent victories over Tundra Esports and a commanding sweep of Team Spirit at FISSURE Universe: Episode 6. With Malr1ne steady in the mid lane and ATF shining in extended games, Falcons look poised for a deep run at this year’s TI.
For Team Nemesis, the loss serves as a tough lesson but also a promising glimpse of how Filipino Dota talent can hang with the world’s best. Their ability to take maps off tournament favorites signals that the Philippines may once again rise as a serious force on the global Dota 2 stage.
