Philippines confirms readiness to host 2025 FIVB Men’s World Championship

Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) president Ramon “Tats” Suzara has confirmed that the country has checked all the boxes and is prepared to host the 2025 FIVB Men’s World Championship, set to start in eight days’ time.

With just over a week left before the tournament, Suzara said the Philippines is ready and looks forward to welcoming the 31 participating teams.

“We are ready. Portugal arrived last night. Two more teams will arrive today and another tomorrow. We are all set. From the airport to EDSA and going to the hotel, I think we are ready. We have all the city branding ready. And our team is ready,” Suzara told reporters.

“We are all set kaya set na natin ito. We will make this the most unforgettable world championship ever. ‘Yan ang guarantee ko,” he added.

Suzara also confirmed that he has met with officials of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), with both boards promising their support.

“They are there to support us. They will be sending students sa opening, they are also there to cheer for our Alas Pilipinas during opening day. So we look forward to have all the volleyball fans around the Philippines,” he continued.

The PNVF, with the help of city officials, has worked to promote the hosting of the FIVB Men’s World Championship across Manila, as seen in posters of the team’s players displayed across MRT and LRT trains.

“Nakaka-proud siyempre. Sana maging inspirational sa mga bata. Sana marami kaming ma-inspire na mga bata para sa future ng volleyball,” Alas Pilipinas men’s team captain Bryan Bagunas said.

The Philippines have been drawn in Pool A alongside Tunisia, Iran, and Egypt. The PNVF hopes that hosting this international tournament will mark a landmark sporting event for the country and for Southeast Asia.
