The NLEX Road Warriors have reaffirmed their faith in Richie Rodger, signing the Filipino-New Zealand guard to a one-year contract extension during the 2025 Kadayawan Invitational Basketball Tournament in Davao.

Present at the signing were team governor Ronald Dulatre, team manager Virgil Villavicencio, and Rodger’s agent Marvin Espiritu of Espiritu Manotoc Basketball Management.

“I’m very happy to remain with NLEX. I think we are building something special here, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it,” Rodger said.

The 28-year-old guard earned the extension despite missing most of Season 49 of the PBA Philippine Cup due to appendicitis. He suited up in just four games, with his last appearance coming on May 7 against Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, where he tallied two points and three assists in 14 minutes before being sidelined.

Rodger admitted the setback was frustrating but said he is now fully recovered and eager to make up for lost time.

“After missing most of our last conference with appendicitis, I’m excited to be back with the team after seeing how well we played getting to the quarterfinals,” he said. “It was unfortunate that we fell short despite the twice-to-beat advantage, but that serves as motivation for us heading into Season 50.

“I’m really looking forward to being back on the court and contributing to help us take the next step.”

NLEX reached the Philippine Cup quarterfinals last season but failed to advance to the semifinals despite owning a twice-to-beat edge.
