There is a great deal of hype and anticipation surrounding the upcoming Season 50 of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Rookie Draft, with several highly rated young basketball prospects expected to enter their names into the draft.
It is understood that the likes of Michael Phillips, Rhenz Abando, and Jason Brickman, among others, are likely to be part of the PBA Rookie Draft, although no official confirmations have been made. However, one player who is widely regarded as one of the best young talents in the country — Quentin Millora-Brown — will not be entering the draft or joining the league.
According to a Philippine-based publication, Millora-Brown will not participate in the Rookie Draft. His agent, Tod Seidel, stated:
“Quentin Millora-Brown will not enter his name in this year’s PBA draft.”
The 24-year-old emerged as a standout player for the UP Fighting Maroons in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), leading his team to the UAAP championship in 2024. His performances have sparked strong public interest in seeing the center included in the Gilas Pilipinas national squad.
A Filipino-American, Millora-Brown is currently under evaluation by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP), which is working behind the scenes to secure his eligibility to play for the Philippine men’s national basketball team as a local.
The SBP has been actively gathering documents to prove that Millora-Brown qualifies under FIBA rules. He has reportedly submitted a copy of his Philippine passport, which was issued before he turned 16 — a key requirement for dual citizens to be classified as locals under FIBA eligibility guidelines.
Millora-Brown had been projected as the potential No. 1 overall pick in the Rookie Draft. With his decision confirmed, he is now set to play for the Macau Black Bears in a short tournament in China. That event will also feature a friendly match against Gilas Pilipinas, serving as part of the national team’s preparations for the upcoming 2025 FIBA Asia Cup, scheduled for July 28 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
