San Miguel Beermen legend June Mar Fajardo is arguably the greatest player in Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) history, as evidenced by his record eight Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards.

Fajardo etched his name in the record books once again after winning the PBA Best Player of the Conference award for a record-extending 12th time on Sunday, July 20, for his brilliance in the ongoing Philippine Cup. He earned the honor after leading San Miguel to the finals, where they now hold a 3–1 lead over the TNT Tropang Giga and are favorites to capture yet another PBA championship.

The 35-year-old averaged 16.0 points, a league-leading 13.9 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.1 blocks per game across 19 appearances through to the Philippine Cup semifinals. This marks his ninth Best Player of the Conference award over the last 11 seasons and his second such award this year, having also claimed the honor during the Governors’ Cup.

Fajardo tallied a total of 1,085 points from statistics (489), media votes (505), and player votes (91), finishing with an average of 39.6 statistical points (SPs). He beat out teammate CJ Perez, who placed second with 704 points, followed by NLEX Road Warriors’ Robert Bolick (563), Magnolia Hotshots’ Zavier Lucero (469), and Phoenix Fuel Masters’ Jason Perkins (441).

“The Kraken” has continued his stellar form in the Philippine Cup Finals, averaging 25.3 points, 11.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.0 block per game across three appearances against TNT.

Given his size, skill, and dominance in the paint, Fajardo has compiled an unmatched list of accolades: 10-time PBA champion, four-time PBA Finals MVP, eight-time PBA MVP, 12-time Best Player of the Conference, 2015 Defensive Player of the Year, 2021 Comeback Player of the Year, two-time Sportsmanship Awardee, and 2014 Most Improved Player, among numerous others.

San Miguel continues to show why they are one of the most dominant and feared teams in league history. With a 3–1 lead in the finals, Fajardo and the Beermen will look to clinch another title in Game 5 on Wednesday, July 23, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
