Ivy Lacsina at a loss for words as all three sisters join the Adamson volleyball team

Filipino volleyball star Ivy Lacsina has established herself as one of the best younger players in the country and continues to showcase her worth in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) with the Akari Chargers.

Volleyball runs in the Lacsina family, and despite this, the versatile hitter and middle blocker was at a loss for words upon hearing that all three of her younger sisters had committed to continue their volleyball journeys with Adamson University in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Girls’ Volleyball Tournament.

The 25-year-old believes it is a golden opportunity for her younger sisters to learn and grow in the sport.

“Actually, I didn’t have much of a part in that decision. It was their surprise for me, which is why I cried so much when they told me they were going to Adamson. Of course, I was really happy—not just one, not two, but all three of them. I always tell them I’m proud of whatever they do in life because I know my sisters are hardworking and truly have dreams,” Lacsina said in a media interaction.

For Lacsina, the news is also a blessing, as it has eased the financial burden on her family. All three sisters received scholarships, and now the responsibility falls on her to lead by example, with their parents still based in Pampanga.

“It’s a huge help for us because of the scholarships. We know we’re making our parents proud, and we’re fulfilling our sibling dream of all being involved in sports. I told them I’ll guide them on their journey. They’re used to Pampanga, and while they’re tall, they’re still my baby sisters,” she added.

Having played for three teams in the PVL since turning professional in 2018—starting with the BaliPure Purest Water Defenders in the then Shakey’s V-League—Lacsina has gained valuable experience competing in the capital and against the country’s top players.

“I’m super excited for them because the level of play in the UAAP is different. That’s what I want them to experience. Volleyball in the province is different, so I want them to see and feel a higher level of competition. I’m looking forward to their journey, and I’m here to guide them. I’m happy they’re in the UAAP now, and I can’t wait to see how their time in Adamson unfolds,” Lacsina concluded.
