Chot Reyes suspended for Game 5 of TNT’s PBA semifinal vs. Rain or Shine

The TNT Tropang Giga moved one step closer to the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup Finals by defeating the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, 108–92, on Wednesday, June 2, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Jordan Heading led from the front and recorded his best game for TNT, finishing with a game-high 23 points, six rebounds, and five assists—13 of those points coming in the fourth quarter. He received solid support from Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser, who delivered a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds.

However, the victory came at a cost for TNT, who saw their injury list grow after losing star players Calvin Oftana and Kelly Williams during the game. Notably, they had already entered the game without the services of Rey Nambatac and Roger Pogoy—posing a major headache for TNT head coach Chot Reyes.

TNT’s woes are set to worsen, as they will be without head coach Chot Reyes for Game 5. The 61-year-old received a one-game suspension from PBA authorities after incurring a total of five technical fouls in the ongoing Philippine Cup.

Reyes’ fifth and latest technical foul occurred in Game 4. Having already received one early in the game, he was given another at the 7:48 mark of the opening period. Notably, his fourth technical foul came in Game 3—not due to an outburst at referees or the opposition, but due to Tropang Giga guard Kim Aurin’s infraction.

It remains to be seen what TNT’s lineup will look like in Game 5 as they aim to seal a Finals berth and continue their pursuit of a PBA Grand Slam. They will attempt to secure the series-clinching win when they face Rain or Shine in Game 5 on Friday, July 4, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
