After weeks of intense regular-season clashes in Week 5 of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Philippines, the stage is now set for a historic playoff return to familiar ground.

The Season 17 Playoffs will be held at the San Juan Arena from May 27 to 31, bringing the country’s top MLBB teams together in a venue long associated with Philippine sports history.

Known for hosting major events in basketball and volleyball, including the PBA, PVL, UAAP, and NCAA, the arena now adds esports to its legacy as it prepares to welcome the MPL PH community once again.

More than just a change in location, the move transforms San Juan Arena into a central hub for fans and players alike—blending competition with a festival-like atmosphere.

Alongside the playoff matches, MPL PH will stage Season 17 Festival activities aimed at turning the event into an immersive experience for the growing esports community.

“This has actually been three years in the making because we could never get the timing right, with our venue regularly hosting sports leagues and seasonal events. But now, everything has finally aligned. We were able to work things out, and we are truly excited and thrilled to welcome MPL Philippines,” said Mandy Ochoa, AVP supply sales and terminalling services at San Juan Arena.

The return also comes at a significant moment for the league, as MPL Philippines celebrates its 10th anniversary and continues building its identity alongside its fanbase.

According to Lee Viloria, Esports head of business development and partnerships in the Philippines at Moonton Games, the playoffs represent more than just competition.

“Season 17 comes at a meaningful time for MLBB as we mark our 10th anniversary and continue to grow alongside our community. With ‘Lakas ng Pinas: Palag Na ’To’ as our battle cry, we are celebrating the confidence and passion of Filipino fans as we bring the Playoffs and Festival to San Juan Arena. It’s an opportunity to create a space where superfans can come together, take part in the experience, and rally behind their teams on the road to the MSC at EWC this July,” Viloria said.

Beyond the championship race, the stakes are even higher for teams aiming for qualification spots to the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup at the Esports World Cup 2026 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Every match in San Juan Arena will carry both prestige and international implications, raising the intensity of the postseason battle.

Adding another layer to the spectacle, MPL Philippines also unveiled its MPL PH Clear Legends lineup, featuring standout players such as AP Bren’s James “Jamespangks” Mendoza and Kiel “Kielvj” Cruzem, Team Liquid’s Sanford “Sanford” Vinuya, and ONIC Philippines’ King “K1NGKONG” Perez and Jann “Kirk” Gutierrez.

The initiative, in partnership with Unilever’s Clear, will roll out campaigns and fan-focused activations designed to bring supporters closer to the personalities shaping the league.

As the playoffs approach, San Juan Arena is set to become more than just a venue—it becomes a meeting point of legacy sports tradition and modern esports culture.
