Alas Pilipinas and Creamline Cool Smashers icon Alyssa Valdez is widely considered the greatest volleyball player to come from the Philippines, having achieved legendary status, as evidenced by her immense popularity across various social media platforms.

Valdez is one of the primary reasons volleyball in the Philippines has reached the lofty standards it enjoys today. The 31-year-old has added another milestone to her illustrious career by being named one of the official ambassadors for the upcoming 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship, which will be held in the Philippines.

The Alas Pilipinas superstar joins fellow Filipino volleyball stars Bryan Bagunas and Eya Laure as ambassadors for the prestigious international event.

Valdez was present alongside Bagunas during the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) press conference on Monday, June 9, in Quezon City. She revealed that it was an “honor” to be named an ambassador, as volleyball has played a huge role in her life.

“I’m very, very happy and proud to be one of the ambassadors with Bryan and Eya. You know, volleyball has been a huge part of my life, and it’s parang full circle having this opportunity to share the floor and be one of the ambassadors here in the Men’s World Championship,” Valdez said on the occasion.

The Cool Smashers captain also expressed optimism about the slow but steady rise of men’s volleyball in the Philippines, which is still overshadowed by the popularity of the women’s game.

“Definitely. I think this Invitational is a testament that we are a really big volleyball community here in the Philippines. Based on the last UAAP finals and the Spikers’ Turf finals, nakakaproud talaga. It’s just so nice na ganon ‘yung track na tinatahak din ng men’s volleyball. It’s really slowly, gradually, but surely improving—for men’s volleyball and the volleyball community. Not just indoor, but also beach volleyball,” she added.

Before the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship, Valdez also urged fans to support the men’s national team in the ongoing Alas Invitational League, currently taking place at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon
