Filipino CODM team Elevate bounces back to top after last year’s World Championship loss

Pressure doesn’t break champions—it reveals them. And for Elevate, Garena Masters X became the perfect stage to prove that their reign was far from over.

Coming into the tournament, the spotlight wasn’t entirely theirs. Alula Club arrived as a reinforced superteam, stacking their roster with elite talents like FDx, Skerd, Jhai, Indonesian standout Clove, and Brazilian addition Lucaszin. 

On paper, they looked unstoppable, especially after previously denying Elevate the crown in Garena Masters IX.

Both squads tore through the group stage undefeated, setting up an inevitable clash that felt less like a match and more like a continuation of a growing regional rivalry. 

Their upper bracket finals meeting delivered exactly that five games of relentless trading blows, culminating in Elevate clutching a decisive Search and Destroy to secure a grand finals berth with a twice-to-beat advantage.

Still, it didn’t end there as in the grand finals, Alula refused to fade, pushing Elevate to the brink. For a moment, it seemed the narrative would repeat itself. But this time, Elevate rewrote the ending.

With their backs against the wall, the “Red Rebellion” leaned on something no stat sheet can measure—experience. They rallied, strung together three straight rounds in a crucial Control map, and flipped the momentum of the series. 

From there, the confidence was unmistakable. Elevate closed out the series 4-2, reclaiming their place at the top. As their head coach, Mark “Olea” Olea pointed to that intangible edge as the difference-maker.

“Masasabi ko siguro yung experience nila sa laro lalo lagi kami sa lower bracket kaya siguro sanay kami sa mga pressure lalo do or die game. Alam ko na kaya nila mag comeback at ilang beses na namin ginawa ito online at LAN tournament kaya ganun ako katiwala sa kanila,” he said.

Beyond the trophy and the $20,000 prize, the victory sends a louder message: Elevate thrives in adversity. 

While Alula Club walks away with $9,000 and a reinforced reputation as a powerhouse, the rivalry between these two teams is far from settled—it’s only getting sharper.

With Team Star Magic, Elunari Esports, Skaeri, and Elite Ascend joining them, both finalists now look ahead to the Garena Summer Invitational.
