Carlo Bumina-ang seeks to return to win column at ONE Bangkok

Filipino mixed martial artist Carlo “The Bull” Bumina-ang is set to make a bid for redemption when he faces unbeaten Brazilian contender Marcos Aurelio at ONE Fight Night 39 later this month in Bangkok. 

The bantamweight contest is part of the stacked card headlined by Rambolek Ajalaboon vs. Abdulla Dayakaev at Lumpinee Stadium on January 23.

Bumina-ang enters the fight coming off a tough setback in his most recent bout when he suffered a submission loss to Elbek Alyshov in November.

The defeat snapped a promising run and has fueled the 31-year-old’s determination to get back in the win column at one of ONE Championship’s high-profile events.

The Brazilian challenger, Marcos Aurelio, presents a significant test for the Filipino veteran. At just 21 years old, Aurelio has compiled an 8–0 professional record, including a recent knockout victory over Andre Rodrigues in September.

Bumina-ang’s path to this matchup highlights a career of highs and lows. Before his loss to Alyshov, he enjoyed a stretch of strong performances in the ONE Championship bantamweight division, punctuated by wins over skilled opponents, including Song Min Kong of South Korea and Argentina’s Mauro Mastromarini via technical knockout.

Before reaching the main roster, Bumina-ang also made his mark on the ONE Friday Fights circuit, where he earned five consecutive victories.
