RP Blu Girls on the verge of perfect finish in SEA Games

RP Blu Girls delivered a commanding performance at the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games on Wednesday, sweeping the elimination round and advancing undefeated into the gold medal match of the softball tournament at Queen Sirikit Stadium.

In the morning session, the defending champions overpowered Malaysia, 11–0, in just four innings, after starting pitcher April Minanga was unhittable in the circle, delivering a four-inning no-hitter and striking out four batters. 

On offense, first baseman Alyssa Daniell led the charge with three RBIs, while Roma Cruz and Charlotte Sales added two each to the scoring effort.

The Blu Girls wasted no time in their afternoon matchup against host nation Thailand, posting an even more dominant 15–0 win in three innings to complete their sweep of the day. 

Designated hitter Reyae Villamin was a standout at the plate, racking up three hits and four RBIs to spearhead the offensive explosion.

Cruz and shortstop Nicole Hammoude also contributed significantly with two RBIs each.

With the two wins on Wednesday, the Philippines improved to 4–0 in the eliminations and has now allowed just one run in four games.

Their lone run conceded came in a tight 2–1 walk-off victory over Singapore earlier in the tournament.

The Blu Girls will now await the winner of the Singapore vs. Thailand elimination game to determine their opponent in the gold medal match, set for Friday at 3:00 p.m. local time.
