Kenneth Llover seeks to end the year with a bang against Chinese foe

Undefeated Filipino bantamweight champion Kenneth Llover is set to end 2025 with a high-stakes showdown when he defends his Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) Bantamweight title against Chinese challenger Ayati Sailike on December 27 at the Aichi Sky Expo in Tokoname, Japan.

The 22-year-old Llover enters the fight with an unblemished 16-0 record, including 11 knockouts.

In October, he stopped Argentina’s Luciano Baldor in the first round during a non-title bout in Kyrgyzstan.

Llover signaled his focus and hunger for a strong closing performance to end what has been a stellar year for his career.

“This is my last fight of the year, and I want nothing less than an impressive performance to defend my OPBF bantamweight title,” he said.

His team, led by former world champion Gerry Peñalosa, believes Llover’s upward trajectory could position him for a world-title opportunity next year. 

Peñalosa noted the vacant top spots in the International Boxing Federation (IBF) bantamweight rankings, and with Llover reportedly in the top five, a world shot may indeed be on the horizon.
