NBA Trade Rumors: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bucks exploring trade options

Brenn FloresBasketball1 week ago99 Views

Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks are reportedly engaging in serious discussions about the star forward’s future and the possibility of a trade is now very much on the table.

Antetokounmpo and his agent, Alex Saratsis, have met with the Bucks’ front office to evaluate whether the two-time NBA MVP’s best long-term fit remains in Milwaukee or lies elsewhere.

The team’s struggles this season, a 9–13 record and a stretch where they lost eight of their last nine games,  have intensified the pressure on this evaluation.

Some within the organization reportedly feel “the writing is on the wall,” suggesting that, unless there’s a dramatic turnaround, Giannis could be on the move.

Giannis came into 2025-26 having initially committed to the Bucks’ championship roster vision under general manager Jon Horst and head coach Doc Rivers.

The plan was to give the team a chance through the first 25 games of the season and reassess if Milwaukee showed signs of truly contending in the Eastern Conference.

But given the disappointing results, Giannis was reportedly open to exploring other opportunities. Over the offseason, the New York Knicks reportedly had an exclusive negotiation window with Giannis, though nothing came to fruition.

Still, sources say interest is not limited to just one team; multiple squads are believed to be monitoring the situation if he becomes available.

Despite the growing talk of a possible trade, the Bucks remain publicly non-committal. Coach Rivers recently denied that Giannis had formally asked to be dealt, insisting the star “loves Milwaukee and he loves the Bucks.”

Giannis, who turns 31 this week, continues to produce at an elite level — putting up roughly 30.6 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game, while shooting around 64% from the field.
