PH floorball national team hopes for breakthrough in SEA Games

The Philippines men’s national floorball team has set its sights on a breakthrough campaign at the 2025 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Chonburi, Thailand, bringing together a roster that blends seasoned veterans and rising talents.

With the recently unveiled lineup featuring names such as Simon Benjamin Andersson, Jan Bryant Arocena, Noah Anthony Gabriel Larano, Melvin Henning Noel Mendoza, Lucas Tricus Martin Werelius, and more, the squad is carrying the confidence born from a string of milestone achievements in recent years.

The Philippine floorball program has steadily climbed the ranks since its international debut in 2014. 

Their progress was highlighted by a breakthrough at the 2023 SEA Games, when the men’s squad reached the gold-medal match for the first time,  ultimately winning silver after a hard-fought battle.

In May 2024, the Philippines stunned regional powerhouse Thailand, 6–5, to top the Asia-Oceania Qualifiers and book their spot in the 2024 IFF Men’s World Floorball Championships in Malmö, Sweden.

At those World Championships, the Filipinos earned their first-ever playoff berth, becoming the first Asian nation to achieve the feat.

Their upward momentum didn’t stop there. In August 2025, the team qualified for the upcoming 2025 World Games and closed out the tournament on a high note with a commanding 14–0 win over host China.

As the Games draw near, the squad is not hiding its ambition: with their recent world-class performances and strengthened lineup, they are not just aiming for a podium finish, many are quietly eyeing the elusive gold.
