The Golden State Warriors have had a mixed start to the 2025–26 NBA season, posting a 10-9 record and currently sitting eighth in the Western Conference. Their struggles continued in the NBA Cup, falling 100-104 to the Houston Rockets in their most recent outing on Thursday, November 27 (Philippine Standard Time) at Chase Center.
The Warriors suffered a bigger blow than the loss, as star guard Stephen Curry limped off the court after bruising his right quadriceps. Curry was forced to exit with 35 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter after Rockets center Alperen Sengun struck his right quad. The 38-year-old superstar was seen speaking with Rick Celebrini, the team’s Director of Sports Medicine and Performance, before heading to the locker room.
NBA insider Shams Charania provided an update on Curry’s condition via X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, November 28 (Philippine Standard Time):

“The Golden State Warriors anticipate Stephen Curry will miss around a week or a little more with a quad contusion. He is believed to have avoided any serious issue. Return will depend on how quad responds to treatment.”
Fellow insider Anthony Slater added:
“Warriors have the Pelicans on Saturday and the Thunder on Tuesday to close out the homestand. They begin road trip next Thursday at Sixers.”
Head coach Steve Kerr acknowledged the challenge of adjusting in Curry’s absence but expressed relief that the injury wasn’t more serious.
“It obviously changes everything — our rotations, how we are playing, who we are playing through, so we will see. When I heard it was a quad I was actually kind of relieved, better than an ankle or a knee, so hopefully he can recover quickly and be okay. But we have got to hold down the fort,” Kerr said in a postgame press conference.
Before the game against Houston, Curry was averaging 28.8 points per game across 15 contests this season. His absence is a significant setback for the Warriors, not only on the court but also in the locker room, where he serves as a key leader. The team’s performance without him will be closely watched as they navigate the next week of the schedule.
