Another star will get a future shoe deal for one of the world’s biggest brands as Detroit Pistons star Cade Cunningham signed a six-year signature shoe deal with Nike.
The first overall pick of the 2021 NBA Draft had been on a rookie deal with Nike since his rookie season, but has now extended his deal, which includes a signature basketball shoe slated for 2027.
In an interview with Houston Rockets star Kevin Durant for Boardroom, Cunningham said that he still can’t believe that he will have a signature basketball shoe for Nike.
“I haven’t really grasped it yet. You know what I’m saying?” Cunningham said.
Cunningham debuted his signature logo earlier this year, which looks like a star but is actually a “Double C” logo that pays tribute to the Pistons star’s initials.

Only five other NBA players currently have a signature basketball shoe line with Nike: Durant, LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Devin Booker, and Ja Morant.
The former Oklahoma State University standout has previously worn the Nike GT Cut 3 in exclusive colorways that feature his signature logo.
The Pistons have boosted to a 12-2 win-loss record so far, good for first place in the Eastern Conference, courtesy of Cunningham, who is averaging a career-high 27.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 9.9 assists in 11 games.
Cunningham’s signing marks Nike’s plans for the future alongside fellow young star Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs, who has also been given several player-exclusive colorways in recent months.
