The Petro Gazz Angels stunned a crowd of 10,000 fans at the Philsports Arena on Saturday, February 12, by defeating Premier Volleyball League (PVL) powerhouse, the Creamline Cool Smashers, to win their maiden All-Filipino Conference crown.

Central to Petro Gazz’s championship win was the performance of star spiker Brooke Van Sickle, whose stellar play earned her the All-Filipino Conference Most Valuable Player (MVP) award. This marked Van Sickle’s second consecutive MVP title in the All-Filipino Conference, making her the first PVL player to win back-to-back MVP honors since Tots Carlos of Creamline, who accomplished the feat in the 2022 Open Conference and the 2023 First All-Filipino Conference.

Van Sickle is again set to make history, as the American-Filipino superstar will receive the first-ever Season Most Valuable Player award at the inaugural Pilipinas Live PVL Press Corps Awards Night.

Notably, the 27-year-old topped the leaderboard in voting with a weighted score of 227.6 points, calculated from 50% statistics, 30% media votes, and 20% team votes. Van Sickle secured 116.3 statistical points, 66.3 media votes, and 45 points from coaches and team captains—beating out Creamline’s Bernadeth Pons and Michele Gumabao.

Pons finished second with a total of 205.6 points—122.8 from statistics, 50.4 from the media, and 32.4 from coaches and captains—while Gumabao earned 151.4 points, comprising 92.4 from statistics, 35.1 from media votes, and 23.8 from team votes.

Van Sickle also won the Best Outside Hitter award in the Reinforced Conference and the MVP award in the All-Filipino Conference. She ranked third in scoring during the All-Filipino with 349 points, built on 296 attacks, 30 kill blocks, and a league-leading 23 aces.

The Petro Gazz standout is also set to represent Alas Pilipinas in international competitions after expressing interest in switching federations from USA Volleyball. The Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) is eager to facilitate the transition and has extended a formal invitation, requesting Van Sickle to submit the necessary documents to expedite the process.
