Poy Erram set for return from injury against Rain or Shine

TNT Tropang 5G stalwart Poy Erram has been reactivated to play on Saturday, Nov. 15 against the Rain or Shine Elastopainters after recovering from an ACL injury.

Erram last played for TNT in Game 4 of last season’s Philippine Cup Finals against the San Miguel Beermen, in which he was forced out of the game due to a meniscus tear.

Soon after, Erram announced that he suffered an ACL tear, but later revealed that the tear was only partial, thus avoiding surgery.

Team manager Jojo Lastimosa revealed that Erram was supposed to play against the Magnolia Hotshots last Sunday, Nov. 9, but the contest was postponed due to super typhoon Uwan.

The big man’s return couldn’t have come at a better time for TNT as they look to strengthen their hold of the Philippine Cup standings after boasting a 5-1 win-loss record so far.

Despite controversies that include a public spat with head coach Chot Reyes in Game 5 of last season’s Commissioner’s Cup Finals, Erram was integral to TNT’s Grand Slam bid, averaging 7.8 points and 4.9 rebounds, as well as few clutch moments all throughout the season.

Veteran guard Jayson Castro is the only player left in the injury list for TNT as he recovers from a patellar tendon injury suffered in September of last year.

TNT will face Rain or Shine in a crucial matchup of the league’s powerhouses at the Aquilino Q. Pimentel Jr. International Convention Center on Saturday, Nov. 15.
