Evan Mobley and Draymond Green headline the NBA All-Defensive Team for the 2024-25 season

The National Basketball Association (NBA) announced in the early hours of Friday, May 23 (Philippine Standard Time), the top selections for the 2024–25 All-Defensive First and Second Teams.

Evan Mobley, the 2024–25 NBA Defensive Player of the Year, headlines the All-Defensive First Team alongside Atlanta Hawks’ Dyson Daniels, Oklahoma City Thunder’s Luguentz Dort, Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green, and Houston Rockets’ Amen Thompson.

It was a close race in the voting, with Mobley receiving 99 first-place votes for a total of 199 points. He narrowly edged out Daniels, who finished with 191 points, and Dort, who had 180. Green and Thompson rounded out the top five with 179 and 171 points, respectively.

A global media panel of 100 voters selected the 2024-25 Kia NBA All-Defensive Team.

Voters selected five players for the First Team and five players for the Second Team at any position.

• Amen Thompson (Houston Rockets) 

There was a noticeable gap in points between the First and Second Team selections, with Thompson finishing 57 points ahead of Ivica Zubac of the Los Angeles Clippers, who led the Second Team voting. Four-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert secured the final spot on the Second Team with 65 points.

Notably, Victor Wembanyama — a favorite to win Defensive Player of the Year — was deemed ineligible for selection to either team after missing the second half of the 2024–25 season due to deep vein thrombosis.
