The TNT Tropang Giga lived up to their billing as Philippine Cup favorites after storming back from a 16-point deficit to defeat the Terrafirma Dyip, 109–95, on Friday, November 7, at the Ynares Center.
The victory lifted TNT to a 5–1 record, keeping them atop the standings in the ongoing 2025 PBA Philippine Cup.
Veteran forward Kelly Williams turned back the clock with a vintage performance, tallying 28 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, a steal, and a block. The 43-year-old capped his remarkable outing by knocking down a career-best eight three-pointers—all coming in the fourth quarter and overtime—to spark TNT’s furious comeback and stun Terrafirma.

Williams’ performance also made PBA history, as he became the oldest player ever to hit eight three-pointers in a single game.
“I have got to give glory to God. To have this turnaround, it’s got to be all him. Coach Chot Reyes has given me the opportunities to do what I do and he has been trusting me, and my teammates have been trusting me to take the shots. I want to do right by the opportunity I have — take it and make it. Coach always tells me to shoot it,” Williams said in the post-game press conference.
TNT head coach Chot Reyes didn’t mince words in acknowledging Williams’ impact on the win.
“Terrafirma completely outplayed us. We had no energy, we had no urgency, and we were lucky that Kelly bailed us out. If Kelly didn’t hit all those three-pointers, then I don’t think I would be sitting here right now because all the rest of our guys couldn’t make a shot,” Reyes admitted.
“Other nights, he will help us with his defense, with his playmaking abilities. But it’s such a luxury for me as a coach to have a player like Kelly who can do it, and more importantly, he has the humility to accept and play a role this late in his career,” he added.
Williams first joined the Talk ‘N Text franchise in 2010, spending nine seasons with the team before returning to Tropang Giga in 2021. Over the years, he has been an integral part of the franchise’s success, helping capture nine PBA championships, including a Philippine Cup three-peat from 2011 to 2013.
Despite being 43 years old, Williams continues to defy age and expectations, adding yet another chapter to his storied career. His long list of accolades includes the 2008 PBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, 2007 Rookie of the Year, two Comeback Player of the Year awards, two Slam Dunk Contest titles, and five PBA All-Star selections.
With performances like this, Kelly Williams proves that age is just a number — and that experience, heart, and hard work can still shine brightest under pressure.
